Integration of LiDAR into Geophysical and Infrastructure development Projects.

Pre-Planning

1.      Planning seismic exploration projects by designing 2d or 3d program layout in the office prior to mobilizing crews for   layout. i.e.; Ability to move preplot locations based on topographic considerations with the ability to reference existing cut lines, access roads and slope characteristics of the land parcels.

2.      Overlaying land ownership information by virtue of LiDAR’s spatially correct reference positioning.

3.      Virtual in office scouting for various other logistically inhibiting factors.

Surveying

1.      Faster survey production achieved by the ability to extract “LiDAR Z” from surveyed x,y’s. ie; Survey can rely on LiDAR for under canopy elevation determination and focus more on production layout.

2.      Ability to layout true slope chainage stations prior to mobilization by virtue of 3d modeling techniques.

3.      Ability to model Radio Wave propagation characteristics with the Full Feature LiDAR data. ie; Shadowed area determination and the Forest impact on Telemetry systems used in Real Time GPS surveys.

4.      Accurate final survey results as a result of the utilization of a homogeneous 3d earth model accurate to typically 0.3m vertical at 1 sigma.

5.      Redundancy of checks against typical survey errors.

Exploration

1.      Ability to model Radio Wave propagation characteristics with the Full Feature LiDAR data. i.e.; Shadowed area determination and the Forest impact on Telemetry systems used in geophysical exploration. Example; radio communication for layout crews and telemetry geophone recording systems.

2.      Ability to create a virtual 3d flythrough of the entire program for safety, emergency response and access considerations.

3.      Capability to characterize suitability for Heli Drilling, Buggy Drilling and Vibroseis locations and model these considerations for feasibility and budget impacts in the office.

Infrastructure Development

1.      Ability to plan well locations based on true topographical considerations. ie; Picking well pads for drilling based on slope and access considerations resulting in an overall reduction in development costs.

2.      Ability to intelligently design pipeline routes and road systems from the office.
